Turning Lemons into Lemonade

I’m naturally a pretty easy going, friendly and nice person. I genuinely try to look at the good in all people. I’m not sure when it clicked for me, or maybe all the credit is due to my momma, but have you ever heard of the Golden Rule? You know, “Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you...” That one. I’ve come to the conclusion that we live in a broken world. In light, of the great Robin Williams passing away, I think this is a good rule of thumb to examine and apply in our daily lives. If we are to really treat others with respect, grace and love then ought we not do the same for ourselves? How can you love someone if you don’t love yourself? The same goes for respect and allowance of grace. I’m not talking about being conceited but truly and honestly having self-respect. To me this means being completely aware of your spiritual, mental and emotional limitations and working within a healthy balance of all. Now,  you’re never going to be completely balanced, I realize that...I mean no one really likes Mondays, right? God Bless you if you do! I’ve realized that you may not always get the respect you deserve. There are some people in this world who are constantly in a broken state of mind, and whether they realize it or not--that state of mind and attitude affects everyone around them. Sometimes the best thing you can do is stop fighting for the R-E-S-P-E-C-T and just give a little grace. That person probably needs it more than you do... or maybe they just need a nice cold glass of lemonade ;)
